My Story

Despite doubting my public speaking ability, I discovered its learnable nature. I am dedicated to empowering others to find their voice confidently and passionately.

My Founding Story

I'm just like you, susceptible to those butterflies fluttering in the stomach and the flush of nerves when faced with public speaking. It's a commonality shared by most individuals.

I vividly recall the anxiety before standing in front of a classroom to deliver a mandatory speech, doubting my capability, and vowing never to pursue a career in teaching.

However, life had other plans. Through higher education and professional experiences, my exposure to public speaking expanded. Eventually, I found myself embracing a role as a professor, teaching courses on communication, including public speaking—ironically, a role I once deemed improbable.

I discovered that public speaking is a learnable skill. With practice, it becomes manageable and even gratifying. Given its ubiquity in life, mastering public speaking is essential for personal and professional growth.

I learned that effective speaking revolves around the audience, not the speaker. Shifting my focus from self-doubt to serving my audience proved transformative. This shift in perspective inspired me to start a public speaking training and coaching business dedicated to helping individuals face and conquer their fears and self-imposed limitations and unlock their full potential.

One person at a time, I am driven to empower as many individuals as possible to find their voice and embrace the art of speaking with confidence and passion.

My Mission

I founded Speaktopia with a singular aim: to empower individuals to exude confidence in every speaking endeavor. As a coach, trainer, instructor, consultant, and leader, I've worked with thousands of students and professionals worldwide, spanning universities and corporate realms. This experience has unveiled a common thread: the pervasive fear of public speaking.

Public speaking isn't just a skill; it's a prerequisite for success in academia, the workplace, and personal interactions. Yet, it remains a daunting challenge for many. This universal hesitation hinders individuals from reaching their full potential and seizing valuable opportunities.

Too often, people go to great lengths to avoid formal presentations, stifling their growth and potential. My mission is clear: to liberate as many individuals as possible from the constraints of fear and anxiety surrounding public speaking. About Me

Lisa Kleiman, founder of Speaktopia, brings over two decades of expertise in strengthening effective communication skills. With a fervent dedication to fostering clarity, confidence, and authenticity in written and oral communication, Lisa has coached diverse professionals, executives, and entrepreneurs worldwide. Her experience spans Fortune 500 management roles and more than 15 years as a faculty member at Boise State University, teaching business communication. An author of bestsellers like "You Got This: Everything You Need to Master Authentic Public Speaking," Lisa holds multiple degrees, including an Education Specialist degree in adult and organizational learning and leadership, embodying her commitment to empowering others in communication. Based in San Diego, California, she resides with her husband of 34 years.
